4th Grade Students Tour The Morgan Library in NYC

Fourth Grade students from Ms. Field's class visited The Morgan Library in the heart of Manhattan for a broad and immersive learning experience. Students were captivated by the Library’s iconic collection of illuminated, literary, and historical manuscripts, early printed books, and old master drawings and prints.

“I was inspired by the inter-disciplinary approach connecting literature, visual arts, American history, NYC ‘connectedness’, as well as a chance to recognize diversity and inclusion in the exhibition of Ashley Bryan and Langston Hughes celebrating Black life and Black creativity,” said fourth grade parent, Stephanie Clark.

During their visit, students toured the museum; searched for their Zodiac sign painted on the ceiling of the East Room; read and admired the Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts; learned the impact of the Gutenberg Bible; gathered in Mr. Morgan’s Private Study; explored the Renzo Piano atrium, studied exhibits “Sail Away”, “Seascape”, and “Petite Prince”; and much more.

As clearly evidenced by the students’ high level of interest and engagement, it was a field trip full of lasting memories. A huge thank you to The Morgan Library educators, Ms. Valerie Field for organizing such an impactful field trip, and all of the parent volunteers.
